Belarusian infrastructure provider beCloud has partnered with mobile operator A1 to boost 4G/LTE coverage in the Vitebsk region by “almost seven times”.

According to a statement from the providers, the network now covers more than 75% of the region, with over 5200 settlements receiving coverage. Around 98% of Vitebsk’s population lives in rural areas.

To achieve this breadth of coverage, A1 and beCloud deployed over 200 base stations operating in the 800MHz band across the region. In addition to broadening coverage, the deployment has also improved signal reliability in remote areas.

TeleGeography reports that rival operator MTS Belarus has “significantly” expanded its LTE coverage via the 800MHz band in the Vitebsk region. MTS also uses beCloud’s infrastructure to provide its services.
